American Wake Up Call 2026
God is shaking the kingdoms of men all around the world.
Recent riots in France and other European welfare states have shaken the belief that the state could stand in God’s place as the source of provision. Wars in the Middle East fueled by hatred of Israel and the Russian imperialistic attack on Ukraine have shaken these nations with no end in sight. There have been protests in India and unfolding exposure of financial rot in China as both nations ramp up persecution against Christians.
Shaking came to America on Nov. 3 as political change swept across the land in response to widespread economic discontent. Voters also elected a number of radical socialist, anti-American, anti-Christian and/or antisemitic candidates, raising concerns about the future of freedom in America. Those Christians who became complacent, thinking that conservative politics would save America, were badly shaken. If we are to save America, we will have to do it God’s way.
As the shaking continues, we Christians need to remind ourselves that we live in a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, the Kingdom of God. Yes, there will be some unpleasant consequences, but judgment starts in the house of the Lord so God can cleanse His Church. Our Christian priorities cannot become subservient to political agendas. On the contrary, the Kingdom of God must transcend politics and bring God’s priorities into both political parties.
None of this shaking in America has caught God by surprise, and He even sent out a word warning us to be prepared for what was to come. We were told not to be afraid, but to stand strong in unity and not be shaken. As we stay in faith and strengthen ourselves with the joy of the Lord, He will lead us through the times of shaking. The word and the warning we sent out on August 12 can be found here.
We can also take heart from knowing that we are living in the Year of the Favor of the Lord, as Jesus proclaimed 2,000 years ago (Luke 4:18-19). Favor, in the Hebrew tradition, means help from the powerful to the weak. God’s favor is available to Christians to overcome our more powerful enemies. For sinners, God’s favor draws them out of the shaking into salvation.
Indeed, the shaking does not change our calling but amplifies it. As Jesus proclaimed the Year of the Favor of the Lord, He outlined His mission: proclaim the Gospel of the Kingdom while releasing spiritual and physical freedom, recovery of sight, and deliverance from oppression (Luke 4:18-19). We are called to be His ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:18-20), urging lost and hurting people to repent and return to God so they can enter the unshakable Kingdom of God (Matthew 4:17).
The election has shown us that there are many hurting people who need Jesus. He gave us a model for reaching them when He sent out the 72 workers, two by two, to prepare the way for Him (Luke 10:1-20). First came prayer, as Jesus prayed for the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into the field. Second came healing, as the 72 workers met the needs of the people in the cities where they were sent. Third, the care given to the people earned the workers the right to share the Gospel with them. As a result of praying for the people, caring for them, and sharing the Gospel with them, the demonic strongholds over the people were overthrown.
In the same way, awakening can come to our cities if we pray for guidance, show God’s love by meeting the needs of our people, and then share the Gospel. Everyone has a role to play in reaching our cities. Some will open their homes, some will go door to door to offer hope and help to their neighbors, and some will invite people to revival meetings or church. But all of us must “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have — but do this with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15). Let us all seek God to find our part in awakening our cities and setting people free.
Wake up, America!
“Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).
