The "Settler Colonist" Lie

Three years after the barbaric, genocidal attack on Israel by Hamas, most Americans are still wondering how any of our people could align themselves with rape, murder, and kidnapping against Israel.

The answer in many cases is the toxic "Settler Colonist" ideology being spread among our young people.

"Settler Colonists" are migrant groups that come to dominate the land where they live. They are viewed as illegitimate interlopers and must be fought by the people they dispossessed. Any crime, such as the Hamas atrocity, is considered justified in the name of resistance. The ideology targets both Jews and Americans as "Settler Colonists" to be overthrown.

By targeting just a few hated migrants, however, the ideology overlooks the historical fact that almost every nation on earth is populated by migrant "Settler Colonists." Europe suffered wave after wave of migrant invasions from groups like the Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, Franks, Lombards, Hungarians, and Germanic tribes, creating the modern mosaic of Europe. North Africa was invaded by the Arabs and South Africa by the Bantus. Turkish peoples invaded Central Asia and Turkey, Aryans conquered Persia and India, and the Chinese tell of a brown race driven out of China by the Han peoples.

The Americas were originally settled by Siberians crossing into Alaska, but there was constant warfare and migration among the 500 Native American nations. For example, the Comanches drove the Apaches out of Texas so that they could claim the best location to hunt the southern buffalo herds and raid Mexico and Texas for horses and captives. They themselves had been driven out of the Northern Plains before they adopted the horse culture and became the world's most feared warriors.

The great native empires of the Aztecs and Incas drove out those before them and were in turn overthrown by the Spanish, allied with the dispossessed peoples. In North America, the English migrants were initially welcomed, but conflicts arose and continued as their numbers increased. Since agricultural societies can support 50 times as many people as hunter-gatherer societies, the Native Americans were pushed to the peripheries of the country, as has happened throughout world history. Our conflicts over the land are settled, although Native Americans deserve our respect and support if America is to live up to its claim to be the greatest nation on earth.

When it comes to Israel, the "Settler Colonist" ideology is completely backward. It is true that the Jews invaded their land, but that was 3,500 years ago. After their rebellions against Rome in AD 70 and AD 135, the Jews were driven from Israel. The migrant population that replaced them, the "Settler Colonists," are the Arabs who make up most of the Palestinian population. Ironically, even the name "Palestine" comes from the Greek word for "wrestler," the Hebrew equivalent being "Israel," or "he who wrestles with God" (Genesis 32:28).

The Jews began returning peacefully to their homeland before World War I, and the Palestinians began to attack them just after the war was over. Migration continued, but it was the Holocaust that motivated many to return and the world to recognize the rebirth of the nation of Israel. Since its rebirth in 1948, Israel has endured many attacks but has survived them all. Today it is the only true democracy in the Middle East and an ally of America.

For all of that, Israel is hated by antisemites, anti-Americans, and jihadists. The "Settler Colonist" canard is just the latest in a series of false narratives used to give a veneer of reasonableness to Satanic hatred of God's people. Hitler used a similar lie, that the Jews were going to take over Germany, to justify the Holocaust.

Let us pray that our people will not be deceived by the lie of "Settler Colonists" and will continue to be blessed by our support of Israel. And pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

"I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse."
(Genesis 12:3)
